At times, trying to explain something to an elderly guy is like beating your head against a brick wall.
No matter what you present as a good argument they counter it with the same statement or opinion. This is the current problem I have been facing lately. After college I moved in with my Grandpa to save money while I paid my student loans and looked for a work position. This was helpful to him as well because I was able to run errands and help with chores around the dwelling. As I was looking for a job position I kept seeing ads for a local cannabis farm that was hiring workers. I figured I could do this and gain a bit of money to help pay down my loans quicker. They were starting people out at above minimum wage and I wanted to look into this type of work. Well, I made the mistake of mentioning this to my Grandpa and I might as well have told him I was planning on robbing a bank. He basically started spouting about myself and others being drug dealers and that he would not deal with this in his dwelling. I tried to explain that it was a legal corporation and that the marijuana farm where I would be working only grew cannabis for medical reasons. I also tried to explain the difference between what you get on the street corner and what is available to individuals to help with various ailments. Again, he said that he would not condone anything that had to do with growing pot and that I would have to find another place to live if I took the work position.
